Steven W. Fox, BChE, MA, LPC, NCC

Hi! Thanks for visiting! To make life easier, you may want to subscribe free to my Email feed. !

From Steven W. Fox: My journey into counseling is rather unique and has slowly evolved during the last two decades. I earned my Chemical Engineering undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech in 1976.  For the next 36 years I worked in various Project and Production Management positions in Baton Rouge, Switzerland, Houston, Beaumont (TX), Germany, and then returned to Baton Rouge in 2002.

In 1993, I was asked to teach a Young Married Class in our church in Beaumont. As I began to work with young couples on a ministry level, I realized how many of them had no role models or tools to guide them in marriage and family issues.

Through the years I found himself mentoring both young and “seasoned” couples in marriage, teaching marriage classes and meeting with men who wanted to be the husband and father that their families needed.

My desire grew to help couples experience everything God intended for marriage. I had spent over three decades working in “the real world” dealing with people, problems, and solutions. But I began to search for how I could take advantage of my life experiences, and at the same time utilize both biblical principles and counseling theories and practical tools.

As I continued to work full-time as an Operations Manager, I began pursuing a Master’s Degree in counseling at Louisiana State University.

While studying for this graduate degree, I gained new skills that allowed me to begin planning my “2nd career.” When I announced early retirement to complete my degree, I found many friends looking at me with envy. They had not really thought much about their “next thing” and certainly had no plan. Because of this career change, I can now encourage others who feel trapped in an occupation to explore new possibilities.

Another passion began during my internship at an addiction wellness center.  I felt drawn toward helping the families of the addicts.  As I worked to educate and support these struggling families, I knew that this was part of what I wanted to do – help them begin to experience their own “recovery.”

Since we returned to Baton Rouge in 2002, I have served in our local church as an elder, shepherd, Community Life leader, and Adult Bible Fellowship teacher.

My wife and I have been married for 38 years. We have three grown married daughters, four grandchildren, and a grown married son. One of the greatest joys for me has been to see how our children have learned from the mistakes and successes in our marriage and applied them to their own families.

Through CrossRoads, I am excited to offer hope to those struggling in their marriages and families as well to help couples that simply want their marriage relationship to become the best it can be.  This includes couples and families impacted by additions of various kinds.  I also help individuals discover and explore career options that will provide them with purpose, meaning, and fulfillment.  Another area of focus is to work with families that are impacted by addictions as well as to walk with those moving from addiction to recovery.

My areas of focus are marriage/family, career counseling/coaching, men’s issues, and working with the families of those struggling with addictions.
