“My lips will shout for joy, when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have redeemed,” Psalms 71:23. Music can be healing for some people and can shape their life. I find that when I listen to Christian music it helps me grow closer to Jesus through the lyrics. There are many benefits to listening to Christian music, which include nurturing your faith, reopening your mind, helping improve mental health, relaxing your body and soul, and allowing you to grow closer to God.
I find that when I am driving to or from work, that is the best time for me to relax and listen to music. There have been many songs that have shaped my relationship with Jesus and brought a lot of meaning to my life. But Lauren Daigle has a new song that has recently come out and it is moving. I want to share some of the lyrics to Thank God I Do:
“It’s been a hard year
So many nights in tears
All of the darkness
Trying to fight my fears
Alone, so long alone
I don’t know who I’d be if I didn’t know You
I’d probably fall off the edge
I don’t know where I’d go if You ever let go
So keep me held in Your hands
There’s nothing missing
When You are by my side
I took the long road
But now I realize
I’m home with You, I’m home
I don’t know who I’d be if I didn’t know You
I’d probably fall off the edge
I don’t know where I’d go if You ever let go
So keep me held in Your hands”
My journey of getting to know Christ has always been constant but it has been rocky like any journey in life. There are ups and downs that you will always go through, but God is always by your side. The lyrics in this song are true to who I am today. I’ve been through a lot of hard times, but God has always been there and without him, I have no idea who I would be. One thing I know is if I didn’t have him leading my life I would be lost in this world and wouldn’t have a clue on what my purpose would be. Singing God’s praises helps us grow closer. If there is one thing I could suggest, it is to find a song that you can connect with that will help your relationship with God. I have a few different songs, but this one really hits home and continues to remind me of what God does in my life.
