Life coaching has increased in popularity over the past five to ten years. However, life coaching is still not widely understood.
At Crossroads, we differentiate between counseling and life coaching as follows:
Counseling is working with someone from a place of sickness; emotional, relational, or spiritual. When something is wrong and not working in our lives, counseling is a course of treatment to identify the core issue, develop goals for healing, and create a plan to work with the counselor through that brings you to health.
Life coaching is more focused on wellness. When you are doing well, but you have a desire to improve a situation in your life, or you have goals to reach in your life, a life coach can help provide education, assist you in developing plans proactively, and provide accountability along the way.
Obviously, sickness and wellness are along the same spectrum. Most of us are somewhere in the middle, yet lean to one side. We want to help our clients move toward wellness and to keep going to achieve their goals and dreams.
In addition to one-on-one life coaching, we also have two programs we’ve developed in the areas of life direction and career direction:
Life By Design – a five-part life coaching program which helps you identify the direction you want for your life and align your plans with God’s plans for your life. We believe that when we are open to finding God’s will for our life and His path, we discover our true purpose along with peace and joy that only comes from Him.
Career by Design – a six-part career coaching program which helps you identify a career direction that will provide career satisfaction and align you with God’s path for your career. This program is perfect for college students and mid-life career change.
