When The Path Ahead Is Foggy

April 26, 2024 By Crossroads Professional Counseling

Hi! Thanks for visiting! Click here to subscribe to our blog.

trusting god in times of uncertainty

In our seasons of life, we experience moments of confusion about where our lives are headed when they don’t always seem clear. We have expectations of what we want our lives and plans to look like, but it’s not always what ends up happening; it can be confusing.

Sudden Changes in Life

About three years ago, my life looked very different than what it does now. I had this plan to graduate with my bachelor’s degree a year earlier. I was growing in my job, closer to my boyfriend, and content in my life.

Well, God had other plans, and things started to change quickly. I got engaged, found out that I wasn’t graduating a year early, and had to say goodbye to my job because I was moving after I got married. To say I was a little confused and lost is an understatement.

But it all worked out in the end. I’m happily married, have a new job, and have graduated from college.

Trusting God in Time of Uncertainty

When things change, most of the time unexpectedly, it can be hard and confusing. But there is hope that these changes and difficult seasons are all for a purpose that God is trying to bring us through. When we feel hopeless and confused, we need to stop and remember to give those feelings to God and trust his plans for us.

“For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”
– 1 Corinthians 14:33

In our different seasons and uncertainty, we should look to God for peace because he is here to guide us in the right direction.

Remember his Promise to us when we are confused and worried.

“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”
– Matthew 11:28-29

In our seasons of uncertainty, we are to turn to him and give him our burdens. God wants to be there for us.

Finding Hope and Comfort in the Fog

When things are unclear and foggy, turn your worries and burdens to God. Pray to him, read your bible for encouragement, and talk to your pastor or a friend who could help you understand.

God did not intend for us to be alone and hide our struggles and confusion.

The changes in our plans in life can be scary, but with God and his promises, we can trust that it will be all right.

When things become clear, and you are on the path created for you, there is a sense of calm and a stronger growth towards God.
